Virus
Fixes
Even if you've been very careful it is still possible for a
virus infection to creep in under your defences. The important
thing is not to panic - there are very few viruses that wreak
enough damage to be irreversible and most can be removed safely
with a careful, methodical approach. And despite what some e-mail
scams say, there are no viruses that can "Delete all you
data in 10 seconds... 10, 9, 8..."!
Whilst your antivirus software will clean up most infections
(you did have antivirus software didn't you!?) there are some
viruses that block access to the Internet, shut down your PC
every 30 seconds, or prevent you from running any executable
programs (such as your antivirus software!). In this case you
need to call ClickStart.
If the worse comes to the worse you may need to have Windows
reinstalled - but even then it may be possible to save some
of your personal data before wiping your hard drive clean. This
is best left to the professionals as it is easy to lose data
if you're not sure of the correct procedures.
